26 year old singer Carrie underwood got engaged with hockey player sens mike fisher after dating for a year. Both have kept the relationship private though the american idol winner underwood has quoted her romance in her latest album play on I love you so much. She has also written " you make my life better in every way! I thank god for you every day" to fisher. Wedding dates are yet to be released.

U.S. Health officials have ordered the recall of about 800,000 doses
of swine flu vaccine after tests showed the doses had fallen below
targeted potency levels.
The recall targets pre-filled syringes intended for young children, ages 6 months to nearly 3 years. The shots were manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur, the world's largest manufacturer of vaccines.
The doses were distributed last month, and most have already been used, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Officials issued the recall over concerns about the strength of the doses in question. Tests done prior to shipping showed that the vaccine strength was acceptable. However, tests done in the following weeks showed that the vaccine strength had fallen slightly below required levels. The reason for the sudden drop in potency remains unclear

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was attacked and had struck in the face at a rally of his political coalition in Milan on Sunday. British airways's union of cabin crew, unite has anounced strike between December 22, 2009 and January 2, 2010. Willie walsh anounced that they are working hard on contingency plans and will be anounced as soon as they are finalized. Unite is being urged to return to the negotiating table.Unite claims the changes affect contractual terms and conditions.The union failed to gain an injunction to prevent their introduction, but a full court hearing to settle the contractual question has been set for February 2010.

Units: About 5,600
Importer: JCPenney Purchasing Corp., of Plano, Texas
Hazard: The drip pan on the grill does not allow for adequate drainage, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 11 reports of fires resulting from inadequate drainage. No injuries reported.
Description: This recall involves Cooks brand outdoor BBQ grills. The grill has a digital thermometer on the hood, stainless steel top and a global LP regulator. Lot number 780-2176 is printed on the underside of the grill’s stand.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills. To ensure the grills are not useable, consumers should remove the gas regulator and hose assembly. All consumers (whether they purchased the item online or at a JCPenney retail stores) should return the regulator and hose to the Catalog/Customer Service Desk at any JCPenney store for a full refund. Dugger baby 19
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar welcomed daughter Josie Brooklyn, weighing 1 lb., 6 oz., at 6:27 p.m. Thursday, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas.
Michelle, who has been in the hospital recovering from a gallstone, was taken to the OR for an emergency C-section. She is resting comfortably and the baby is stable and in the NICU for extended care, a rep for the network tells PEOPLE exclusively.
"The most important thing right now is for mom and baby Josie to get as much rest as possible," reads the statement to PEOPLE. "The family is grateful for all the prayers

Invictus
Invictus is a 2009 drama feature film based on Nelson Mandela's life during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film stars Morgan Freeman as the then South African President Mandela, and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, the South African team captain. The story is based on the John Carlin book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation. The film was released in the United States on December 11, 2009.

Hi everyone. I just left the doctor’s office and I couldn’t wait another minute to tell you guys…Hank and I are having a baby boy!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!! When the doctor told me I was just like OH MY GOD, I’m going to have a son!!!!! Today is certainly always going to be one of the most memorable days of my life!
Whether this little guy is a jock or not, he’s definitely going to be a mama’s boy. And, there’s no doubt he’s gonna be a handsome one…just look at his dad!
Hank and I can’t wait to get started decorating the nursery and stocking his closet full of teeny tiny Eagles jerseys (and Chargers ones too hahahaha).

Inappropriate frosty
The video ad , "Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman," takes authentic dialogue from CBSsitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men" and dubs it on top of the cartoon clip, changing well-known "Frosty" scenes to contain suggestions that the snowman and his friends visit a "strip club."

Bank of America repays bailout
Bank of America Corp. said Wednesday it has repaid the entire $45 billion it owed U.S. taxpayers as part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Bank of America, which announced its agreement with the U.S. Treasury to repay TARP last week, funded the repayment through a combination of cash on hand and the sale of $19.29 billion of securities that would convert into common stock. The stock increase remains subject to shareholder approval.
In a prepared statement, CEO Ken Lewis said the company cleared a key hurdle in demonstrating the economy's broader health, and said the bank looks "forward to continuing to play a key role in the economic recovery."

Baghdad bomb attack
Bomb attack struck Baghdad on tuesday which killed atleast 103 and Nearly 200 others were wounded in the blasts, three of which targeted government sites and went off within minutes of each other
A total of four attacks, which also included a suicide car bomb on a police patrol, showed the ability of insurgents to strike high-profile targets in the heart of Baghdad and marked the third time since August that government buildings were targeted with multiple blasts that brought massive bloodshed.
"Civilians and security personnel have definitely been killed," Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qassim al-Moussawi said.
Iraqi police put the death toll from the attacks at 112.
One blast happened outside the labour ministry building and a second hit a nearby court complex near the protected Baghdad Green Zone.
Another bomb detonated near the new site of Iraq's finance ministry, whose previous building was destroyed in an August explosion.
"What crime have we committed? Children and women were buried under debris," said Ahmed Jabbar, as he sifted through debris near the finance building.
"Why did they (Iraqi security) let this car bomb pass?"
Sky's foreign affairs correspondent Lisa Holland said the sites were far from being soft targets.
"There was a very clear intent to deliver this devastation to the heart of government," she said.
"The timing has also been crucial. Parliament has been in recess until today.
"This has shown the vulnerability of the people and the inability to provide security for themselves."

The maker of Zhu Zhu hamsters, one of the hottest-selling toys of the holiday season, defended its product after a consumer Web site said one of the toy hamsters carries high amounts of a potentially hazardous substance.
The light-brown version of the Zhu Zhu hamsters, "Mister Squiggles," has unsafe levels of antimony, according to Dara O'Rourke, co-founder of the California-based GoodGuide.
"We found levels of about 93 to 106 parts per million," O'Rourke told CNN. "The new federal standard is about 60 parts per million."
Antimony is used in textiles and plastics to prevent them from catching fire, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry. Prolonged exposure can cause lung and heart problems, ulcers and diarrhea, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
The toy manufacturer, St. Louis, Missouri-based Cepia LLC, disputed GoodGuide's findings and said its products are safe.
"All our products are subjected to several levels of rigorous safety testing conducted by our own internal teams, as well as the world's leading independent quality assurance testing organization, and also by independent labs engaged by our retail partners," Russ Hornsby, CEO of Cepia, said in a written statement. "The results of every test prove that our products are in compliance with all government and industry safety standards."
Bruce Katz, a senior vice president of Cepia, told CNN: "They do not contain high levels of antimony in any way."
"None of these tests have failed over the many months we've been producing this product," Katz said.
The toys are popular in Europe as well as in the United States. Their British distributor, Character Options, said the products, sold there as "Go Go Pets," are "fully compliant" with U.S. and European Union standards.
"In addition, as part of Character Options' standard due diligence, the toy has been further tested on three separate occasions by the company's own safety experts and found to fully comply with all EU standards," the company said in a statement issued Sunday.

Drunk dialed 911
A Middle Tennessee man was arrested after police said he drunk-dialed 911 and has called police 47 times over the last year. Murfreesboro police arrested a 57-year-old man on Thursday after police responded to an emergency call to find him intoxicated in his home. According to the police report, officers asked him why he called 911 and he replied that he was "just drunk."
The Daily News Journal reported that police later learned that the man has repeatedly called 911 since September 2008.
He was charged with abuse of the 911 system and booked into the Rutherford County Jail.

The USS Arizona Memorial, located at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors killed on the USS Arizona during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 by Japanese imperial forces and commemorates the events of that day. River cuomo injured in an accident
Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer of Weezer, was reportedly injured in a bus accident early Sunday morning (Dec. 6th). According to CNN, the 40-year-old musician complained of rib pain and was transferred, along with a band assistant, to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, New York. Cuomo’s wife, daughter, and a fifth passenger on the bus were uninjured. The bus was traveling from Toronto, Ontario, to Boston, Massachusetts, for a show Monday night at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.
The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on the New York State Thruway after the bus slid on ice. According to police reports, the bus went into the median and hit some reflective posts before crossing back over the highway, going over the guardrail and landing in a ditch.

Former “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson is preparing to start a pop career and will release her debut single in the new year.
Imdb.com reports that the 42-year-old is preparing to release a track called “High”, which is about the fashion world, her friend Richie Rich has revealed.
“We are recording a pop single together. Pamela says she wants to sing, but nothing too difficult, so she’s just going to sing the word ‘high’ over and over,” said Rich.
Richie revealed he and Pamela are also launching a new clothing line, A*Muse, which she'll model during Fashion Week in February.

American student know found guilty
An Italian jury has found American student Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito guilty for murdering Knox's British roommate, Meredith Kercher
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison and Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years.
Both were convicted on all charges except theft and together must pay 5 million euros ($7.4 million) to the victim's family. In addition, Knox must pay 40,000 euros ($60,000) to a man whom she falsely accused of the killing.

Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood was arrested for assaulting his 21-year-old girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova
A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that a 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with a domestic incident."
Wood famously left Jo, his wife of 23 years, for Russian Ekaterina Ivanova in July last year. They are said to have a tempestuous relationship.Jo Wood was granted a divorce earlier this month on the grounds of her husband's adultery. She recently found fame of her own on the BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing.
Police said he was bailed out on Thursday and he will face further inquiries in January. They did not release any details about the incident.

Chevy volt to first hit in california
GM has just announced what we have all assumed, California will be the first US state to get the Chevy Volt late next year. The automaker has selected and will be selecting other markets as well. GM vice chairman Bob Lutz said in his keynote address, “some other lead markets will be announced in the next few weeks.”
GM is also parterning with three California utilities and EPRI to do a real world Volt demonstration project. They will be using a $30 million DOE grant for the study which will involve providing 100 Chevy Volts for a two year study fleet beginning in early 2011. The vehicles will use OnStar to provide perfromance usage and analytic data in real-time. 500 charging stations will also be installed in business, public, and residential locations.

Meredith Baxter - speaks out
"Family Ties" actress Meredith Baxter made the media rounds Wednesday confirming the rumors that she is a lesbian.
"It was a later in life recognition," the actress explained to Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Wednesday
"I didn't want some tabloid to take the story and make it up," Baxter said in the interview. "I wanted it to be in my own words."
She told Lauer on "Today" that she's always "lived a very private life. To come out and disclose stuff is very antithetical" to who she is.
Baxter told DeCaro that she knew she could be outed when she went on the cruise with her partner, Nancy Locke, but she went anyway.
"We live a very open life at home," she said. "Anyone who's a friend of mine, anyone who knows and cares about me knows. It's no secret that I'm gay, but it has been to the greater world.
"The reason I'm here [on the show] is because I'm saying, yes, I'm a lesbian."
Baxter also told People magazine that she has been in a four-year relationship with Locke, who works as a building contractor. Baxter has been dating women for the past seven years, and "the thought of being gay never crossed my mind," she said.
The actress was married three times before, during which she "was never comfortable with herself," she told People. Now, she feels like she's "being honest for the first time."
Baxter has also come clean to her five kids, according to People. Her 25-year-old son Peter was all smiles. He told the magazine that he "just couldn't stop smiling, because she finally figured it out."

Diamond cat food recalls
On September 23, Diamond Pet Foods issued a voluntary recall for Premium Edge Finicky Adult Cat and Premium Edge Hairball cat because they have the potential to produce Thiamine Deficiency. The FDA has issued a further announcement today that provides additional information from the company’s posted announcement of September 23 when the initial recall information was provided.
Thiamine is essential for cats. Symptoms of deficiency displayed by an affected cat can be gastrointestinal or neurological in nature. At the first stage the cat may show decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. Later, neurologic signs can develop, which may include ventriflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures. These ultimately may result in the death of the animal if left untreated.
The affected products were distributed in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida.
The affected date codes were RAF0501A22X 18lb. (BB28NOV10), RAF0501A2X 6 lb. (BB28NOV10), RAF0802B12X 18lb (BB30FEB11), RAH0501A22X 18 lb. (BB28NOV10), RAH0501A2X 6lb. (BB28NOV10, BB30NOV10, BB08DEC10).
To date, 21 cases of thiamine deficiency in cats have been reported and confirmed by Diamond. The reports have been confined to the New York and Pennsylvania areas and none have been received since October 19.

Bobby bowden retiring
Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, who built one of college football's greatest dynasties in 34 seasons with the Seminoles, plans to announce his retirement Tuesday morning, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com.
Bowden told The Associated Press Tuesday morning he wanted to speak to his players before announcing later in the day whether he will return to coach Florida State next season. A team meeting has been scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET.
"I want to meet with my team first," Bowden said on his way into the office.
Bowden, whose 388 career victories trail only Penn State's Joe Paterno as major college football's winningest coach, met Monday morning with Florida State president TK Wetherell and athletic director Randy Spetman.
Spetman described Monday's meeting in Bowden's office as congenial.
"It's always cordial with Coach Bowden," Spetman said. "He's a good man."
General Motors CEO Henderson resigns
General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson has resigned, the second chief executive to leave this year, the Detroit Free Press is reporting.
Chairman Ed Whitacre Jr. said at a hastily called news conference that he will serve as interim CEO, and an international search for a new CEO and president is planned.
Henderson became CEO in late March after the Obama administration asked CEO and Chairman Rick Wagoner to step down. Henderson worked with the U.S. government to take GM through bankruptcy about 60 days later.
He praised Henderson for having done "a remarkable job in leading the company through an unprecedented period of challenge and change," but added, " While momentum has been building over the past several months, all involved agree that changes needed to be made."

The origins of the Festivus celebration can be dated back to one (fictional) man's refusal to conform to the increased commercialism and consumerism which has saturated the December holiday season. This man's name is Frank Costanza. During a routine outing to secure a Christmas gift for his son George, events transpired which would forever change the landscape of the holiday season.
In his own words: "Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had -- but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way! [The doll] was destroyed. But out of that, a new holiday was born. 'A Festivus for the rest of us!'"
Festivus is held on December 23 each year. It was created as a response to the commercialism of the other December holidays. Its slogan is "A Festivus for the rest of us."
The Festivus celebration includes three major components:

During Festivus, an unadorned aluminum pole is displayed, apparently in opposition to the commercialization of decorated Christmas trees, and because the holiday's creator, Frank Costanza, "Finds tinsel distracting."

You can really make it to be as personalized as you want. The more personalized, the better, so your youngster can feel like he really knows who they are. You will absolutely want to get the camcorder ready because they are going to be so happy! I remember once I got a letter from the big guy from up north, I was the best little boy on the block. I was scared to behave badly, because I really believed that he was has his eye on me. My mom said that she wanted to send me one every week, just to keep me from being naughty! I think I would have figured it out, though.
It’s good to know that you can go on the web and create this and have it show up at your door so quickly. With little time and effort, you can really brighten up your child’s day. When it comes down to it, this type of gift doesn’t have to be just for your children. It would be a nice gift for a grandkid, baby brother or sister, niece or nephew, or even as a joke. I might send one to my childhood friend in New York as a joke. I would never tell him that I did it though! Just put a ton of super personal stuff that I know from being around him so long, to really make him wonder. That’s just me though, I love a good gag.

You can really make it to be as personalized as you want. The more personalized, the better, so your youngster can feel like he really knows who they are. You will absolutely want to get the camcorder ready because they are going to be so happy! I remember once I got a letter from the big guy from up north, I was the best little boy on the block. I was scared to behave badly, because I really believed that he was has his eye on me. My mom said that she wanted to send me one every week, just to keep me from being naughty! I think I would have figured it out, though.
